Peeking out through a side window, she could barely believe her eyes when she saw her visitor’s face. Was that really Sidney Crosby? She had only been expecting the cable guy that morning but the Pottie family — all hockey fans — were in for a real treat. “Well I was just shocked,” recalled Lingley-Pottie. “I was just so full of joy.” However, Pottie had just one problem: dressed only in a bikini because of the scorching weather, she rushed upstairs to throw on some clothes before greeting her guest. While she was gone her daughter Madisyn came to the rescue, letting Crosby inside. The hockey legend was back in metro Halifax, three weeks after he brought the Stanley Cup home after the Pittsburgh Penguins won it. It was then that Lingley-Pottie’s husband Darryl Pottie put up a plywood sign outside their Enfield home with the words, “Sid please sign my jersey.” Unbeknown to the Pottie family, Crosby saw the sign. Some days before Crosby returned to Enfield the sign was taken down, but he still managed to find his way back to their house. And he signed not only Darryl’s jersey but also a hockey picture that Madisyn had. “He remembered,” said Lingley-Pottie. But Darryl himself was at work and did not get to meet Crosby. “I just feel bad for my husband that he was at work,” said Lingley-Pottie. This left Lingley-Pottie and Madisyn to host their distinguished guest, who ended up staying for about 20 minutes. Lingley-Pottie, who runs a children’s mental health program, had much to discuss with Crosby who has also done extensive work with youth. Together they discussed Lingley-Pottie’s work, which has taken her as far afield as Finland and will be taking her to Vietnam later this year, where the program has opened a new chapter. They also talked about mental health and anxiety in children. “He’s a down-to-earth pleasant person, very genuine and polite. He was obviously interested because he asked my daughter questions about hockey and the hockey league she was with,” said Lingley-Pottie. Nonetheless Lingley-Pottie, despite being a trained international speaker, felt somewhat nervous in Crosby’s presence at first, recalling that she even shook when he arrived at their doorstep. She described Crosby’s visit as an “amazing gesture.” It was also a fitting gesture for the Pottie family, all of whom love playing hockey. Lingley-Pottie said that in winter Darryl set up a rink for all the neighbourhood children, complete with goals. While on a trip to Finland, Lingley-Pottie enjoyed a visit to the World Hockey Championships, where she saw Canada lose to the United States

Catching up on all the great pic's. Fantastic job as usual ladies. Can't decide if he looks so much happier this summer with the cup or if I'm projecting how happy I am to see him (and his fellow pens) with it.

It was in NS. He was in NY over the weekend and Kingston, ON too. Apparently he was at a 7-11 with Zetterberg and they chatted with the cashier for like 15 min. I think it was zetterberg - a player from detroit for sure. I accidently deleted the email

Zetterberg was in Sweden like 2 hours before the sighting so unless he has mastered time travel, it wasn't real.

Or they mistook zetterberg for someone else. However it seems strange he wouldn't be noticed more in a place the size of Kingston. Ive seen pics from ny but who knows right? Hope he had a great birthday and if in ny j hope he shopped a lot and went to sprinkles- that's what I'd do.

Or maybe he went down to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx!!!! Haha lots of sweet treats for that sweet tooth (and maybe to fill the donk out a little more)
