lol Sasky "start flapping those rope" but i totally agree he really needs to start train so he can be fit for the season and also fit enough to get selected for team Canada but doesn't he train in Cali maybe he might be doing that too
Doesn't sid usually go with friends somewhere during offseason, like when he went to the DR? I wonder if he'll fit that in this year. Would be nice to see pics of him lounging by the pool or playing beach volleyball again
He usually does but its such a short summer for them that maybe had to go straight into training. He'll have olympic camp end of August and preseason starts early September. I hope he gets some time off though!
Does anyone have a link to the 2013-2014 schedule? The only games I've seen announced are the 6 outdoor games and the 1 hockeyville pre-season game.
It might be that just that 1 pre-season game is early because Stirling-Rawdon is in the middle of nowhere and there's going to be logistical issues. On the other hand, if the whole pre-season is early it might bode well for the NHL releasing the players for the Olympics because I think that still hasn't been confirmed, or has it?
If the penguins had gone to the SCF in a regular year they'd have finished up around mid-June, their last game in the ECF this year was 7th June, it's not really that short of a summer, just that they've been knocked out of the playoffs in early rounds the two years before, so they had longer summers. Besides, there's no point pushing his body through training soon after the end of the season, let him have a couple weeks to rest and heal up, there's almost 3 months until the start of the pre-season, plenty of time for training.
I believe they usually don't release the regular seasons schedule until after the Final has ended.
And this season is at least an extra 20ish days long, which is almost a month- so it is considerably longer than the guys are used to. When the Pens ECF series ended was almost exactly when the Cup final would normally end if it went to 7 games. So really the only teams that will be affected by this are the Hawks and Bs.
My assumption is that by being in LA already, Sid's already started training. Just because he's spotted on the beach doesn't mean that he's slacking off. He's not spending his ENTIRE day training, if that's what people think. He may have one or two sessions and then the rest of the day is his to do as he pleases. He may fill in the gaps to stay active by golfing, playing tennis or whatever else he does. But the guy's not a machine, so I think he gets as much R&R as he can during his free time.
thanks Lex, I was pretty sure the schedule doesn't get released until after the final is over. I checked nhl.com it wasn't there but thought maybe they released it to the sports press early because the playoffs are going late. The sports press weren't very good at keeping secrets for the awards!
The Pens lost the SCF in 2008 then won in 2009, maybe getting close to the cup followed by a shorter summer full of regret instead of cup parties is just what they need to motivate them to win!
Regardless, Andy is the top off-season trainer in the hockey world, I think he knows what Sid needs to be doing to get ready for next year more than we do.
Yeah, I think she posted about Sid for minor bragging rights, we want to feed our fan obsession so we creeped a little, as long as we leave her alone I'd say fair exchange. Contacting her to ask what colour shirt he was wearing would be way across the line!
Funny wording she used, had a table with Sidney Crosby, at first I thought she might have been a waitress, maybe it was one of those places with long communal tables where the staff just seat you wherever there's space?
