For all the slack and disrespect Sid may get from onlookers who just want to pick random, seemingly inconsequential things like *iffy* personal details that, true or not, shouldn't factor into his professional life because when you see him playing in person, it doesn't matter where he's looking or his energy level, that concentration barrier is like reinforced steele; I swear, best I can describe it is a kind of hardcore-zen-zone. But I digress. Or they'll complain about him because he's not meeting unrealistic/idealistic expectations on the ice, or are simply bitter that he's not repping their own team so they hop on and ride a long-dispersed of, but apparently legendary characteristic of standing up for his players and the team's rep in the highest, on-ice authoritative manner - the way he's obligated to do as the captain! Seriously, in so many twisty-turny-what-the??? ways, Sid can never win. But it's reports of fan encounters like the airport one above that help me keep my cool, because they do more than just even out all the unnecessary bitter. That's the core of it for me. He's an amazing athlete, obviously. But it's the fact that he's able to disregard the negativity and keep himself (and his unshakeable manners) readily available to the ones who truly count. That's what I admire about him over everything else. He's a prime example that confidence doesn't always equal arrogance. (Though, just goin' ahead and sayin'... if I don't get to see the long, shaggy curl/beard-ish combo at the next playoffs, then I probably will get mad. The power's in the scruff, Sid. Feel it in your soul. Scruffffehhhh.......)

Just read that fan encounter with Sid at the airport. That is so awesome. I have never met one person who has said that Sid wasn't nice. Everyone I talked to that has met him has always said the same thing, he's so nice, quiet, respectful, sweet........ That's just Sid. He's a special guy.
