I like the videos, especially the puck tossing one.
There haven't been very many pictures from this camp. Hopefully we get some more before it's done.

I’m actually kind of pleased that there aren’t too many pictures from Vail. I’m a long time lurker here, so obviously I love seeing Sid pictures, but my friend works at a hotel in Vail and said the guys had to change hotels because there were people literally stalking them. They were booking rooms in the hotel just to try and find the guys. It’s crazy! I’m all for waiting outside a hotel or arena or even going to into an arena like the video poster above did, but following them to a hotel is a bit much. I mean imagine what that would feel like if you were the one on the other end? |

I mean they need somewhere to stay, you would like them to be able to do that with some privacy.
That is certainly not what I meant when I said I hoped for pictures!
I would just like to see some fan photos or pictures of the guys working out, but I don’t want them to be harassed.

I’m sorry if you thought I was saying you wanted creepy photos or whatever. I wasn’t saying that at all. I think we all love seeing Sid and the other guys, but some people just take it too far. My friend said some of the stalkers left as soon as the players moved to their new hotel. She guessed they probably went to try and follow them to the next hotel. A co-worker of her’s was actually sent home from work early for telling another guest at the hotel where they were going (she thinks they will likely get suspended, which I think they should). But like I said, imagine being on the other end of that. Imagine people were following you from hotel to hotel. I’d be totally scared and creeped out. |

I think it's something hockey players have to deal with all the time. There are people who try and find out where teams stay In pretty much every city. They can't prevent it, so if it's that big of a problem they should hire their own security.

The majority of time i think its just people who want an autograph and a pic and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure there are some who take it too far and unfortunately its always those people that ruin it for everyone.
With that many elite players all in one place they can't be surprised that fans showed up the same way that there will be even more of them when they're in Toronto for NHL Media day.

I totally agree that some people take it too far. But just because it happens all the time doesn’t make it okay. I think all famous people have to give up some privacy but there should be a limit. Clearly they can handle it but should they have to?
The fact that these people (I’m guessing girls but I could be wrong) are following them around from one hotel to the next is crossing that line to me. If you want to meet them do what that guy did and go to the rink or wait outside the hotel or just hope you get lucky and run into them out in public.
What those people are doing makes me think of the photo of Sid sleeping on the plane. That to me was another line that shouldn’t have been crossed. I know it was not posted here and I appreciate that. People here seem to respect that the players, though famous and rich, still deserve respect.
I still remember right around the time of Sid’s sleeping photo there was a sleeping plane photo of Anderson Cooper. He told the person off for taking the photo and I thought that was great. Famous or not they are still people.
I just flew to Germany today and my internal clock is all messed up (hence the reason I'm on here at this time) maybe that's why I'm thinking of the plane photo.

That being said I would love some more videos of them from the rink or doing their workouts.
A few years ago we got a lot of photos but not too many the last few years they have been there. Andy use to even post the 2 teams.
Maybe they don't post as much about it because they are trying to keep it more private. Which wouldn't surprise me if people are actually stalking them inside their hotel.

I think they'll post more after they leave so they don't draw attention. I can say from running this thread for a few summers now that there have never been many fan pics from vail. The majority of them have been posted by people with the athletes. I think everyone has lines they think are too far - bathroom and sleeping pics are it for me - but in public places I think it's ok. I can't imagine they would have moved for simple autograph requests though it must have been something more.

I too think there need to be a line drawn somewhere and some people just don’t seem to know where that line is. I use to be a member at Talk sports but left because while I can probably admit that I’m maybe a little too interested in Sid, the online stalking that goes on over there was too much for me, especially always asking people who Sid was with. That crossed my line. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if these people were from talk sports.
I like what an above poster said about putting yourself in their shoes. If someone was booking hotel rooms in my hotel to try and be close to me and then doing the same thing at another hotel when I moved to be away from them I’d be totally weirded out and more than a little bit scared. I know they are “celebrities” but that’s not normal.
And also, who has the time and money to waste booking rooms in multiple hotels to stalk hockey players? I need their job! I wish I had that much free time and disposable income, though I’d spend both in a much less creepy fashion... probably on shoes.

This seems to be a bit of a hot topic and I’m not really surprised. I live in New York and there is almost a pride here that we don’t hound celebrities, models, athletes, etc. the way they do in LA. I think a lot of people are starting to understand that buying a ticket to see someone doesn’t mean you have the right to whatever you want from them.
There are ways to meet these people without crossing that line so many have talked about. jmrmhi went to the rink to see if they were there. That’s a normal acceptable way to meet someone. Trying to get a room next to them isn’t. And at the very least, take the hint when they try and leave you behind and don’t follow! LOL!

These anonymous posts sound a lot like that poster who was being inappropriate in our shoutbox a few months ago. The comments are fine i just find the volume of them suspicious. Since they're anonymous and i can't tell by the ip's I'm going to move these posts to the general Sid thread and the conversation is free to continue there.

Hey guys! My bad! I was scared it was that troll from the TS board that was spamming us again but i was mistaken. I apologize to GG, Hadley and the others that posted. I swear you did nothing wrong its just that my radar was up because of that trolls last month's 5 hour rant on our threads about how Sid isn't a piece of meat and we shouldn't objectify his "assets". She started off perfectly reasonable and then it went wonky real fast and i had to lock down the boards.
I still don't think its clicked for me that it's not just me and the10 people this board started out with that read this board. That lots of people are actually reading this has not fully registered which is absurd since its the whole point of having a message board. I see a post from Germany and im like - why would someone from Germany be reading our board - do they think i'm an idiot!! TROLL! However it turns out i AM an idiot and lot of people from many countries are in fact reading this board lol. Again i'm sorry and hope this hasn't soured you to posting. I shall aim to be less paranoid in the future.

Ok so I was talking to a friend about how large the group in Vail has gotten. I know Sam Gagner, Brock Nelson, Clearly, Daley, JVR, Okposo, Duchene, Spezza, Tavares, Skinner, Seth Jones, Barrie, and of course Nate and Sid. I don't know the goalies and the guy between Sam and Nate has perplexed me because I feel like I know who it is and cannot figure it out. The guy in front of Skinner too.
