A place for you to add your stories of meeting Sid so the rest of us can live vicariously through you (while secretly hating you due to bitter jealousy. No - just me? ).

I found these on the reddit Pens in Public thread. Here are the Sid ones: www.reddit.com/r/penguins/comments/2aq7yx/acknowledging_pens_in_publicI lived in Philly for a few years and was at a bar on St. Patrick's Day in 2012. I walked out of the bar mid-day and the first person I saw when I stepped outside was Sid. It was like running into an old friend because the face is so recognizable to a Pens fan. He, Dupuis, and Sullivan were walking around, looking to get something to eat before playing the Flyers the next day. I asked for a pic with Sid, which Sullivan gladly took with my phone. I felt a little bad, but I'm sure the other guys are used to Sid getting the attention. Afterwards, I gave them some recommendations on restaurants, wished them good luck, and went on my way. It was pretty surreal and they were all super friendly. Also used to bump into Staal and Talbot all the time when I lived in the South Side, but those were mostly "you the man bro" type encounters. [–]JimmyEddie 7 points 4 days ago If anyone was fortunate enough to be at Mario's the night after game 7 against the Rangers, everyone got a real treat. Crosby, Bennett, Maatta, Neal, and Glass came and I was fortunate enough to hang out in the corner where they were all situated. Bennett and Maatta were incredibly nice, they actually introduced themselves to me and said it was great to meet me and stuff like that. Crosby had a bodyguard with him and wasnt really talking to anyone. Glass was an absolute bro, I talked to him for probably a good half hour about the season and that I was hoping he would stay with the team. When I was leaving I walked up to him to say bye and he remembered my name and gave me a hug. Neal on the other hand... He came already drunk as hell and immediately went to the bar and was reaching into their coolers and started handing out beers to everyone. He could barely stand straight and was making out with any girl that approached him. At one point he walked up to me and asked me for a ride home, when I said no he put me in a chokehold and started screaming gibberish at me. Not only that but he also kept reaching into my friends pockets. At the end of the night when Mario's lights came on he walks up to me and puts his arm around me. I helped walk him out and offered to call him a cab but the second I walked out a group of people rushed up to him so I threw his arm off me which made him collapse so I just said "Here, he's your problem now" and I went home. [–]lawvas 3 points 4 days ago I'll never forget meeting Sidney Crosby in El Segundo when he was in town to go on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The Penguins had just drafted him and the hype was huge. At any rate, my beer league team was playing it's usual Saturday night game and word spread that Crosby was there for a practice skate or something. I happened to bump into him, grabbed an extra puck from my bag, told him how excited Pittsburgh was to have him, and had him sign the puck. I remember how mature he was for a 17 year old. You could tell he was a class act then. Bonus points, here's a video of his Leno appearance. www.greatesthockeylegends.com/2014/02/sidney-crosby-on-jay-leno.html

I met Sid at the airport last year in Toronto. He was really nice and there was lots of people asking for pictures. He took a lot of time for kids especially.
